But for those who doesn’t live in a tropical area, you don’t have to lose any hope. There are a lot of ways through which you can achieve the tropical look even if the temperature around you is freezing cold. Tropical Gardens in cool climate:
There are a few commonly used and well known ways you can go to create a tropical garden. One common and obvious choice is to select a few tropical plants that can adjust to the cold climate. But there isn’t a lot of them available. They can be found at online shops who have tropical plants for sale. Even though, there are a few tropical plants available on the market that can survive outdoors in winters
“Passiflora Vine” of “Passion Vine” is a good example, which can survive in climates as cold as the “USDA Zone 6”. Another way you can get a tropical look for your garden in to choose the plants that have exactly the right tropical look. For example, you can look at “Toad Lily” that look like “Lush Orchid” which is a northern plant is able survive in zone 4-9.
Overwintering Tropicals:
If you are ready to plant every spring, a lot of tropical plants can be enjoyed during the summer. You can treat them as annuals then. But if you are ready to go for the hard way, then you will be surprised knowing how many tropical plants can be overwintered by putting them into containers.
Just before the autumn, get your containers inside the house. Then you can grow them as houseplants. But the most successful way or course of action is to let me them go sleep temporarily. To do that, the containers need to be placed in a dark place with cold temperature and remember to the spray water at them regularly.
The plants will start to lose the leaves which can cut off later before the plants enter dormancy. This will go on till the winter ends.
Once the temperature starts rising, bring them out in the light and the plants should get a new growth for a another tropical look in the garden.
